Auricular Therapy

A method of treatment that involves the needling of specific points of the ear. In a wider sense, it also includes massage and application of pressure to seeds or metal balls at specific points. Needles may also be implanted. The action of each point is usually indicated by its name. Points named after organs or parts of the body are used to treat disease of those organs or parts. Ear points are commonly used in treating addiction. Some ear points can be used in acupuncture anesthesia.

Cautions & Warnings

Though the risk of infection is the same as in other parts of the body, special care is taken due to the proximity to the brain.
